Step 1: Create a Campaign
1. Navigate to Ad Manager Home and click Create Campaign.
2. Select Google as the platform for your ad campaign.
3. Choose to start from scratch or use an available template.
Step 2: Set Up Ad Content
1. Add the Website URL and Display Path. The Display Path is optional and allows you to create a clean, user-friendly URL path on the ad, supporting two segments of up to 15 characters each.
2. Add up to 3 ads within a campaign, each with unique headlines and descriptions.
You can add up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions.
A minimum of 3 headlines and 2 descriptions are mandatory.
3. Enter up to 30 characters per headline and 90 characters per description.
4. Add positive and negative keywords to refine ad targeting. Each Keyword has a match type dropdown:
Broad (keyword)
Phrase (default: "keyword")
Exact ([keyword])
Step 3: Define Budget and Audience
1. Set a daily budget for your ad campaign.
2. Set Bid Strategy - Maximise Clicks
Default strategy: Maximize Clicks
An optional toggle to set a max cost-per-click (CPC) limit to control spend.
3. Choose geographic locations and languages for targeting.
4. Adjust settings for radius-based targeting if needed.
5. Users can target audiences based on gender (Male, Female, Unknown) and age ranges (18-24 to 65+ and Unknown) for more precise audience segmentation.
The tooltip for “Unknown” selections provides an explanation that ads will be shown to users without a specified age or gender.
Step 4: Review and Publish
Review all ad content, budget, and audience settings.
Click Publish to activate the ad campaign.
Payments for the campaign are processed through the connected Google Ad account.
Multiple Ad Groups and Ads
The use of multiple ad groups and ads within Google Ads campaigns provides more flexibility for advertisers. You can add up to 10 ad groups per campaign, each with up to 3 ads, allowing for better targeting, A/B testing, and performance tracking. This feature enhances campaign structure and optimization by offering more granular insights at the campaign, ad group, ad, and keyword levels.
